Sarasota Invitational Kicks off Regatta Season at Nathan Benderson Park

The 2nd annual Sarasota Invitational Rowing Regatta is this weekend February 26th and 27th hosted by the Sarasota County Rowing Club. The event will be at Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota’s new world-class rowing facility located just south of University Parkway.

In addition to the participation of hundreds of youth and masters teams from around the country, 10 U.S. National Team rowers will also attend and participate this weekend. I am especially excited that my son, Nicholas Hudson, will be rowing tomorrow for the Sarasota Scullers.

This is going to be a spectacular event at our county's amazing new rowing venue. It is fun for the whole family. Admission is free to the Sarasota Invitational with a parking fee of $5. Several vendors will be onsite selling food and merchandise.

Nathan Benderson Park is scheduled to have five rowing regattas between now and May which will attract thousands of participants. This new rowing facility has created alot of excitement so if you have not already seen this site then this weekend is prime time to check it out!

For more information about this weekend's regatta, visit www.sarasotainvitational.com . Be sure to stay tuned to my Blog for news on future rowing events scheduled at Nathan Benderson Park and upcoming regattas for the Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Program.

Big Cat Habitat in Sarasota

The Sarasota area has so much to offer for animal lovers. We are fortunate to have so many choices from Sarasota Jungle Gardens, Mote Marine Aquarium, Save Our Seabirds Bird Sanctuary (formerly Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary), Myakka State Park, Oscar Scherer Park, and the marine life in Sarasota Bay and our local waterways. This month if you are looking for something special to do in Sarasota, check out the 6th Annual Rosaire Family’s “Animal Extravaganza” at the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary .

This annual fundraiser is fun for all ages with an educational show under the Big Top. The gates open 1 hour prior to showtime so you have an opportunity to enjoy Fat Sams BBQ, Camel Rides, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo and much more. Shows are being held each weekend in February. Conveniently located, the Big Cat Habitat is just south of the Fruitville Road area at 7101 Palmer Blvd in Sarasota – east of I75.

The Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary is a non-profit safe haven for big cats, bears, and other animals in need. Their goal is to educate the public by fostering appreciation for animals and stressing the importance of habitat preservation.

This is an affordable event for the whole family plus you are supporting a local non-profit organization! For dates, show times, and ticket information go to www.BigCatHabitat.org
